Pakistan Launches New AI Health Initiatives
Pakistan’s technology and healthcare sectors are seeing growing collaboration around artificial intelligence.
Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) recently announced a major multi-year grant from the Gates Foundation to establish Pakistan’s first nationally coordinated AI Hub. The initiative will initially focus on maternal, newborn and child health, with Aga Khan University serving as a clinical and technical partner.
The project is intended to bring together expertise in AI, language technology, digital public health and clinical research.
AI Takes Centre Stage in Medical Education
Artificial intelligence was also a major focus at SIMPACT 2026, organized by Aga Khan University’s Centre for Innovation in Medical Education in Karachi and Nairobi.
